We dunkin' - Jan 10, 2021
Another week in the DR! Spanish is still crazy hard but I'm starting to pick it up better. Me and my Comp started speaking in all Spanish from 8am in the mornings to 9pm in the night, and for every word we say in Spanish we have to do 5 push-ups. So I've been getting jacked
We met an American who actually lives in the DR. He's always talking about how unloyal he was to his wife and how he was in the military and played triple A baseball back in the US. He also drops an F bomb every sentence. But he's actually got a good knowledge about the gospel and was actually telling us about how he was praying to find the truth about the gospel. And then we showed up and talked to him, so we'll see how that goes. We also found a lady who thinks she's a prophet, she said she prophesied the pandemic. She literally has a book about LDS prophets and she said she knows that they are true Prophets, but still thinks that she is the only true prophet right now. Weird
I still get made fun of a ton about how bad my Spanish is, and I still get told everyday how I look like Harry Potter.
But we had the opportunity to baptize this weekend. It was so cool! Our church doesn't have a baptismal font, so we walked 40 minutes to a property that a member owns. It was basically a farm full of chickens, goats, sheep and horses. The property has got a river, so we baptized in the river, pretty cool that my first baptism was in a river. I had the opportunity to baptize an 8 year old kid who's name is Luis Marco. He's super cool and full of life, his family are members. My comp baptized his cousin.
Covid is running free over here. Everyone has it, but they don't think it's covid, they call it "gripe". I'm almost positive I had covid 2 weeks ago, I gave it to my comp. But also this week the mission was put in quarantine because so many missionaries were catching covid. But the Campo areas could still go out and work, so we could still go out and do our normal stuff.
Anyways, super cool week in the DR. Love life here. Cold showers are getting a little old, but it's aight.
